If you have more than one debt, the order you pay them off changes how long it takes and how much interest you pay. Enter up to five debts to compare the avalanche and snowball methods.
Debt payoff planner
Enter up to five debts and the total you can pay each month. The planner compares two common methods: avalanche (extra money to the highest interest rate first) and snowball (extra money to the smallest balance first).

Assumptions: interest is charged monthly at APR ÷ 12 on the remaining balance; rates, minimum payments and fees stay the same; no new borrowing. Real lenders calculate interest in different ways, so treat the results as estimates. Priority bills such as rent or mortgage, council tax and energy usually come before other debts.
